Māori resources for the whole whānau

Tēnā koutou katoa,

At Poi Princess I am passionate about creating a place that provides a holistic range of Māori resources. A place that supports grandparents, parents, teachers, and tamariki learning about and connecting to te ao Māori.

It is my hope to encourage our tamariki to feel a connection to their Māori heritage, growing up positively and confidently in their cultural identity.

I hope I can help you on your journey.

Ngā mihi nui, Beth

Frequently asked questions

Shipping & Pick Up

Currently I use NZPost or PBT, depending on what I’m sending, the size of the order and where (North Island, South Island, rural or residential).

Most orders, if placed and paid for by 1pm, will be sent out with that day’s courier. Some orders will be sent on overnight courier and others may take approx. 2-3 days. Rural delivery on a larger order can take up to a week.

I can process rather quickly, but couriers have their own systems that unfortunately I have no control over. I do try to send courier tracking details via email once your order is out.

All courier companies put their prices up significantly in 2023 when the price of fuel continued to rise. I have set the freight price at $11 for residential and $15.50 for rural. This mostly just covers the freight cost, not including packaging materials or my time packaging items. Rest assured I am not making money from the cost of freight, it literally is what it is.

The bonus for you is, if you purchase more items it’s still the same flat rate.

Currently I do not have International shipping available.

I am located in Stoke, Whakatū (Nelson). When your order has been processed and payment received, you will be sent the address and pick up details via email.

Invoicing, Payments & Paperwork

The invoicing system is an automated process.

If you place your order as a customer (not as a guest), you can log in at any point of the process and download your order, along with it’s current status.

You will also receive the PDF copy of the invoice attached to your email order when the order is complete.

Ae (yes) you can.

Add your items to the cart, then complete the order using the Direct Banking payment option. You can choose your own email for the order and bank details to be sent to, or you can choose to email it to an accounts manager or other person of your choice using their email account.

Be sure to check out as a customer (not as a guest), inputting your details into the system. You will then be able to log in at any point of the process and download the order along with it’s current status. If you do choose to order as a guest this makes the process more difficult to access your order again along with the PDF and details attached to your order.

As much as I would love to support many others and especially to be able to offer discounts, this is not always possible. Due to this, there are a couple of things that I ask you to consider first before asking…

Do you ask everyone for discounts? The supermarket, clothes shops, toy stores, or the dairy? Please note I am not a company, nor a charity. I am a one wāhine, self-funded, small NZ business owner trying my best to make ends meet. Would your order contribute significantly to my sales this month? Or are you looking for an ongoing arrangement, with regular purchases?

If you answered yes to either of the last two patai (questions) then ae, kōrero mai, feel free to email me and we will see what we can work out.

The automated quoting process wasn’t as successful as I’d hoped when I trialled it in 2023, and I have decided to remove this from the website.

Feedback and suggestions from customers include adding simply adding the items to your cart and taking a screenshot of this to share with employers. Or, place the order using the Direct Banking method and forward order details and payment to a designated person.

Product FAQs

Ae (yes). When you click into a category on the website you will see two red buttons at the top that will allow you to download the entire Poi Princess catalogue PDF. Alternatively, you can send the PDF catalogue to a specific email address where you can look and/or download.

Not all items are available on backorder so it pays to ask if you’d like to order more of a product we stock.

Otherwise, backorders vary depending on what it is you have back ordered. Large amounts of Poi are usually backordered on a monthly basis by Schools and Preschools. If you would to lock in some poi for a future month, be sure to email me and I will try to arrange this.

The Te Rangatahi books are available on backorder. This can sometimes only add between 2-5 days for a large backorder, but if it is looking like two weeks or more you will be notified.

If other items are available on the website for backorder and not mentioned above, please allow an extra week for delivery.
